“Ahhhhh! LOVE sure is beautiful! Just wait until I get swept off of my feet!”
Beloved, whatever you do, don’t let meeting the one become a distraction. I recall several days when I would lie in bed daydreaming about that blessed day when my prince would come save this damsel. It got so bad that I started making movies of how it would all go—literally. My mind became so creative in that time that I replayed the ending over and over and over! It clouded my view!
While out running errands, I couldn’t help but wonder if the guy by the newspaper stand was “him”. Or maybe the guy who I passed on aisle 10 in the grocery store. My mind was all over the place! It became a distraction big time and I wasn’t even able to focus on God. My prayers even shifted. Instead of me seeking God, I started praying more for my future husband and our meeting. That’s not bad. You should pray for your future spouse, but at the stage I was, I was sinking, nearly drowning in the thought of love!
Most of the time, it only takes one word that makes you see the state you’re in! My word was FOCUS! Be careful of the things you meditate on and make sure you’re consulting the Source! Matthew 6:33 tells us“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”We should be seeking God FIRSTin ALL things! Not only that, when we keep our minds on Him, He keeps us in perfect peace! We won’t have to worry or wonder about “the one”, we’ll know that God is working behind the scenes on our behalf. We just have to remain obedient and in His will! In addition to seeking Him first, we are instructed to“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”(Matthew 6:34 KJV)
I stress this over and over because it’s so important to stay focused on God and to grow and develop in the Spirit. The enemy would love to catch you slipping with your mind consumed by things other than God. Oftentimes, that leads to self-manifestation. He would love for you to connect with the wrong one and get out of alignment with God’s will! Don’t stress so much on meeting “the one” when you have The One who works all things for your good and according to His plan! Fall in love with Him! Get to know who He is, so that when “the one” comes, you’ll be ready! Even where you are right now, you have work to do! Don’t pass up those assignments! There are people who are waiting for you to birth what God has placed in you! Get focused and stay focused!
[Please don’t confuse my point by thinking I’m saying you shouldn’t pray for your future spouse nor think of him/her. All I’m trying to say is, don’t let it become a distraction to the point where you’re not focusing on anything other than that.]
Beloved, stop worrying! Just rest in God and the promises He has already spoken! They WILL come to pass! 🙌🏾
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
-Philippians 4:6-8
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
-2 Corinthians 10:5
