We know from John 10:10 the enemy comes only to steal, kill and destroy. But Jesus came that we may have life and have it more abundantly. The thing is, when we believe the lies of the enemy and partake in sin, there are no doubt consequences. The consequences may not be immediate but just know that when we sin, sometimes we get way more than what we bargained for.

Have you ever did something that felt right but you knew it was all wrong? Maybe in your mind you were encouraged to partake in that very thing. I have been in that place several times where I believed the lies of the enemy and although I got what I wanted in that moment, there were lasting consequences.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23
I remember being so deep in sin to the point I was afraid, afraid that God would turn His back on me. I got to that place because I believed the lie that it was okay for me to partake in sin. By doing so opened the door to so much more. I remember being at a low place to the point I was battling depression. I remember filling the tub with water and as I sat all I could do was look at my current state and how I was sinking deeper and deeper in sin. I began to weep and my plea became the words of David, “Father, do not cast me away from Your presence and please do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.” I thought I was going to die in my mess but thank God He didn’t leave me in that place.
As believers in Christ Jesus, we have Holy Spirit to help us overcome any temptation but sometimes we don’t want the help that is at our disposal. We want to wallow in the sin. Been there too.
Recall the words of James:
“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am tempted by God; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.'” – James 1:12-15
When we turn to temporary things they only bring temporary satisfaction. We need something that is going to satisfy our soul and give us what we need and that will benefit us eternally. When we look to Jesus and rely on His strength, we receive what we need.
You don’t have to do anything that would eventually hurt you or others in the end!
You can overcome sin and temptation by the power of the Holy Spirit.
What lies have you believed? Search the Bible for Truth so that you can stand on the Word of God when temptation knocks at your door! And remember, “Greater is He that is within you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4)
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.” —Galatians 5:1-10
“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” —1 Corinthians 10:12-13
“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” —2 Corinthians 2:14
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Jesus answered them, ‘Most assuredly, I saw to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.‘” – John 8:32, 34-36
