Self Examination is REQUIRED!

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” —2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV

“Surely this is not what I’m doing!” is what I tried to convince myself after the Lord revealed something to me. I even tried to justify what He revealed. As I sat and examined myself and my actions, I became sorrowful unto repentance.

Paul speaks of this in his letter to the church at Corinth.

“For even if I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it. For I perceive that the same epistle made you sorry, though only for a while. Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
—2 Corinthians 7:8-10 NKJV

It’s no coincidence that the Scripture (2 Chronicles 7:14) came to mind while I was praying one night and then I saw the scripture listed on my church’s Facebook page and then I heard the Scripture in a song on my way to work and not too long after I arrived at work, my mother-in-law spoke it to me during a conversation we had. All this happened in two days! Surely I wasn’t in sin. I just “knew” I wasn’t. I was so wrong and I wasn’t paying attention to what the Lord was saying to “me” until I finally sat down and listened. I was quick to think he was talking about our nation because once again, pride was in the way of me seeing “myself” at that time.

“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. —Proverbs 16:18 NKJV

Don’t ignore what God may be speaking to you. It could be a Word that could save you from something that could be detrimental to your life, not only physically but spiritually.

By repenting, the Lord literally HEALED me from something that I noticed was happening in my body. I cried out several times for the Lord to heal me. It was frustrating dealing with it and once I realized the error of my ways and repented, “it” was no more. My heart was overjoyed and I could not help but to praise God! 🙌🏽

Listen to what Holy Spirit is saying! Don’t allow pride to make you believe you’re perfect and you can do no wrong. We are still human and make mistakes but we have to constantly examine ourselves, our hearts and motives!

Stay at the Lord’s feet so that He can reveal these things to you. Be humble and receive what He reveals and take the appropriate steps to turn away from what He revealed to you.

Self-examination is a MUST!
