A few years ago I had an experience that really spoke volumes to me. I made a post to share the revelation I received. Here’s the post:

I normally drive my son to his bus stop in my pajamas due to the fact that I don’t have to get out of my vehicle. So this morning, I left out of the house with yoga pants, a white t-shirt, & flip flops on. As usual, I would wait until the bus arrives and then go back home. My plans were intercepted this morning! From the bus stop, I didn’t make it back home as planned. I ended up having to drive across town in yoga pants, a white tee and flip flops. Mind you it’s cold and rainy this morning! I had NO time to drive home to change into the proper clothes because my neighbor’s vehicle broke down at the bus stop and his wife needed to get to work pronto! I was so embarrassed because of what I had on. Certainly if I would’ve known “this” would happen, I would’ve prepared for it by dressing appropriately but I had no idea as to what the day would bring!

As I was driving, all I could do was laugh. I learned my lesson! ALWAYS leave the house prepared because I don’t know what’s likely to happen!

The moral of the story is: ALWAYS be ready!! Jesus is coming back and we won’t know when and when He returns, no one will have the time to go back and prepare. There will be NO second chances. Don’t ignore His invitation and when He arrives, you’re left outside of the wedding (Matthew 22).

“The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.” ’But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.” —Matthew 22:2-8 (I encourage you to read the entire chapter).

We are to BE READY as if He will return at any moment. BE. YE. READY!

I left home not knowing what was likely to happen and I left UNPREPARED! Had I been prepared, I would not have experienced any embarrassment. I didn’t want anyone to see me like that but why did I leave the house like that? Doesn’t make sense right? We don’t want to have to stand before God ashamed—ashamed that we didn’t utilize the time He gave us on earth properly, and ashamed that we never got the chance to know Him. It would crush us to hear “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” Don’t you agree?

My encouragement for today is for us to be ready, staying at the Lord’s feet seeking His face and will and asking Him to purify us and purge us of anything that’s not like Him. We want to be found “ready” when He returns.
