Yield

Why are you fighting so hard? Why all the kicking and screaming? Honestly, when was the last time you had a temper tantrum because things weren’t going your way? Why is it so hard for you to just give yourself completely to God?

You know, I’ve been thinking. The word “yield” just happened to come up in conversations on a few occasions and I couldn’t shake the fact that God was trying to get my attention. You see, a few months ago I had a vision where there was a child present and that child was told to do something specific—sit and wait. But the child being so antsy (restless, fidgety, impatient) just couldn’t sit still. It reminded me of how we are with God sometimes. At the end of the day, who wants to sit still in one place? 🤷🏽‍♀️ We have to learn the importance of following God. The important thing to remember is that obedience is better than sacrifice and if we love God the way we say we do, we will follow His commands, even the ones we don’t want to adhere to.

To yield means “to surrender or relinquish to the physical control of another: to surrender or submit (oneself) to another.”

We shouldn’t come to God with stipulations. We should come to Him with no hidden agendas but with hearts open and ready to do as He instructs. No excuses. No last minute assignments. Just like Jesus told the disciple in Matthew 8:22: “But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.”

Yield to the Holy Spirit. Totally surrender. To give yourself to God costs a lot. But it’s so worth it.

Are you ready to yield to the Holy Spirit completely?

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
—Luke 9:23-25 KJV
