First off, I want to thank you for traveling this brief journey with me! I pray that you have been inspired in some kind of way!
Now today is the final post and I’m oh so excited! It’s a little lengthy, but well worth the read! I know I was supposed to have posted this Sunday, but with all of the birthday festivities and Monday being Memorial Day, I ended up spending time with the people I love. But today, my attention is on you! Let’s begin!
Before we dive completely in, consider the following verses: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
—Matthew 28:19-20 KJV
I’ll tell you why I posted it later on in this post!
May 27, 2014 is a day I surely won’t forget! Not only was it my 24th birthday, it was also the day that I started the process of becoming a home owner!
On the morning of May 27th, I met the realtor. When I got in his car, he handed me a booklet. Before I looked in the booklet, I remember I prayed about the house I had set my eyes on. Not only that, I made a specific request and asked God that if it’s His will that I would be able to see the house and if I’m able to, for Him to allow it to be the last house we look at. Y’all, I opened up the booklet and once I got to the fourth page, guess what I saw? “The house!” I think I had the biggest smile on my face!
We went and looked in the first three houses but my mind wasn’t set on them. Once we pulled up and stepped in “the house”, I told him, “this is it!” He asked me how did I know so soon. I told him I just knew. I hadn’t even walked around the house or anything. We were standing in the foyer. I’m sure he was stunned by my sudden answer. I walked around the house and scoped out the rooms. We met back up and I reassured him that this was the house. We left and he dropped me off at the meet-up spot. I went back to my room at the extended stay and he called and informed me of the process and told me there were some documents I needed to sign and that he would send them through email. Y’all, I was handling business 😂. After everything was sent back to him, I can’t remember if it was during that time or some time later that he informed me of the closing date. Whichever it was, the closing day was set for two weeks away (June 13th).
God was setting me up and I didn’t even know it. During my visit to Georgia for the closing, I went to a conference at a church in Kennesaw. I met Mrs. Kezia Alford, who is now my First Lady. At the time, I didn’t know she was going to be my First Lady! To be honest, when I finally got settled into the house, I started visiting the church that I met her at. After visiting that church for some time, I visited two more and I made the second church my home. Still, I hadn’t found my way to the church I am at now!
It’s funny how God revealed to me that where I was wasn’t where He wanted me! I typed up a resignation letter and submitted it to the pastor of that church. This is what led to that event: after meeting First Lady Kezia, I started following her on Facebook. One day she inboxed me and asked if I wanted to be a panelist at their Love & Relationship Conference. I said yes and after the conference I started attending their bible study on Thursday nights. Y’all, when I say I left church so convicted to the point that I just wanted to bow in God’s presence and weep. I was so messed up and was walking around as if I had it all together. But that night changed everything. I needed to be held accountable for my lifestyle and deal with those very things I was trying to conceal. So I was drawn back to that church and I started attending bible study regularly. It changed my life! The messages and teachings, although they cut me DEEP, they helped me get my life on track! It’s not a coincidence that the church is called Righteousness Ministries International Church.
God will connect you with people who will lead you to where He’s trying to take you!
Don’t ever be afraid to step out in faith! Trust that God will lead and guide you to where He desires for you to be!
Now this post isn’t all about becoming a homeowner, it’s about stepping out and trusting God during the process! Just as God led Abraham out of his country to a place that He would show him, He desires to do that for you too! Just think about what would’ve happened or what would’ve not happened if I didn’t step out? What do you think would’ve happened if I would’ve settled in the place I was?
Now, let’s tackle those verses I posted earlier. God created each and every one of us with a purpose! In the picture, it shows a woman standing on top of a building looking out amongst the city. When I saw that picture, it spoke volumes. I also thought about this scripture here:
“Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;”
—Matthew 9:37 KJV
