Ahhh! Just where do I start? I’m pretty sure you’ve faced certain challenges where you just wanted to call it quits! But being part of the family of faith, we just can’t give up, regardless of what we’re facing!
I remember crying out to God one morning! My body was wrenching with pain and I just wanted God to heal me already. Honestly, I’d grown tired of going through all of the health challenges. I’ve been dealing with the challenges since I was twelve years old and here it is that my 28th birthday is approaching! So it’s been 16 years of wanting to be “normal”—in a sense!
Side note: I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at age 12. Six years later, the doctors said it was Crohn’s disease. So I’ve had several hills and valleys with my health.
But as I was crying out, I heard the Spirit of God say, “There is still some fight in you.” It was in that moment that I recalled the Scripture, “Greater is He that is within you, than he that is in the world.” —1 John 4:4b
God has brought me through so much—the near death experiences, divorce, the loss of my mother, depression, the times when I was suicidal, but yet I found myself growing tired of just “going through!” I was tired of the ebb and flow of life! Have you ever been there? Even in the midst of that dark moment, I remembered that Jesus said “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33b
You know life is full of challenges, disappointments, losses, etc., but as believers in the true and living God, we have the Holy Spirit as our Guide, Helper, Comforter, Counselor—He is all that we need. We just have to continue to approach the throne of grace to obtain mercy and to find grace to help us in our time of need!
No matter what you’re facing today, don’t give up! Keep moving forward! There is still some fight left in you and it comes from the strength of God! Access it! Use it! Go forth! I’m rooting for you!
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 3:14
