A Made Up Mind

“But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God.” (‭‭Ruth‬ ‭1:16‬)
Ruth could’ve easily turned around but she chose not to go back to the land that she came from. She’d spent quite some time with Naomi, so could it have been that she was curious to know more about the God that Naomi worshiped? Whatever the case may have been, her decision to follow after Naomi brought forth blessings. Ruth became the great-grandmother of King David and a direct ancestor of Jesus. Even though Ruth was a Moabite, God still used her in His plan. That certainly wasn’t an issue with God.

What I want you to see is that we have to make it up in our mind that we won’t turn back to what God has delivered us from no matter how dire our current situation may look or how good the fleeting pleasures of the world seem. We have to continue living for God because He wants to use us in His plan. There are so many lives and blessings tied to our obedience. Take Ruth as an example! Without Ruth there wouldn’t have been Obed, Jesse, King David, Solomon…you get where I’m going. Just like all of the other descendants, they all played a vital part and so can YOU!

So, have you made up your mind that you’re going to place ALL of your faith and hope in God and pursue Him and His way? It’s easy to go back but going back doesn’t bring forth the fulfillment that only God can give. Pursue the OLD GODLY way and keep your eyes on God! He will never steer you wrong. He has a plan for your life and you can be confident that it will be an expectant end. 😉
